Etched Glass Reproduction of Victorian Design
Cutlines Glass were asked to recreate a Victorian etch design no longer manufactured commercially.
We started with a piece of the original door surround, & meticulously traced the design out so the new glass will match the antique glass still in the doors.
Once happy with the results, the design is sent off to the vinyl cutter. This machine cuts all the intricate shapes out for you so very fine detail can be achieved.
The cut vinyls are then applied to the clear restoration glass already cut to size.
The next step is to painstakingly remove all the bits that need to be etched. All the remaining pieces will protect the glass from the sand when it goes through the sandblaster.
Once the glass has been blasted, the remaining vinyl needs to be removed.
The result is an etched pattern almost identical to the authentic Victorian sample provided. Ready for the client to install along side the originals.
